Setting up ekos for off axis guiding

Hi,
I wonder if someone can set me straight. I recently updated my OTA to use OAG. I was wondering if someone can suggest a good way to set this up in ekos. In the profile do I select the guide camera as camera 2? Also in profile, for the guide tab to I select the mount or the camera? Do I need to set up a separate train for guiding? I didn’t see an option to select the train or camera in the guiding module in ekos.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Eli

Hi Eli,

You need to include both cameras in the profile and have 1 optical train for each, say Imaging OT (for imaging) and Guide OT (for guiding). Set the same telescope for both OTs.

Then use Imaging OT in Capture, Focus and Align and use the Guide OT just in Guiding.

When you Autofocus with an OAG it usually messes up guiding (but you can try it). If so, there's an option in Focus to suspend guiding during Autofocus.

Recently changed my setup to OAG but did not realise that the guiding images are indeed also not sharp during focusing.
Good suggestion, thanks for this.
