I'm having weird difficulties getting my mount to the right position. It's a Sky Watcher AzEq6 GT with an RPi3+ running Stellarmate sitting scope-top. I'm running KStars 3.1.0 on Linux Mint 19 connected to the Pi over the network.
If I tell EQMod to track something, it goes to the right part of the sky. I then go to Ekos and click Slew to Target. It solves and slews a bit, then solves and slews a bit more. It keeps repeating this over and over, maybe never getting there. I've attached a screen capture of a typical Slew to Target.
Any ideas where to start with this? Is my mount toast or in need of some TLC?
You probably have a pointing model active using N stars alignment in Eqmod and the weight of the new point you sync near the target is insufficient to influence the pointing result.
When using plate solving it is best to disable this pointing model.
Open the Eqmod INDI setting.
In the Sync tab set "sync mode=standard sync" and click "clear sync delta".
In the Align tab for "manage list" click "clear list" and set *alignment mode=nearest point".
After that retry the slew, even with two degree of initial error it must be on the target after one or two move.
Why is this the first time I have heard this tip. I have also noticed zeroing in while using slew to target takes more tries than one would expect. Is this use case documented anywhere I may have missed?
I will have to try this for myself next time I have the chance.
