Mine was a clean 1.3.4 and as always I just ran the upgrade tool on the desktop, but still no good all errors still there...
I never do a distro upgrade...
Well flashed a new card with 1.3.4 and as soon as I booted up, before any updates I have the error, so I run updater, untick any Ubuntu updates and I then get this, and if I run the -f command I get the second error, so something is wrong...
The first thing the image does on first boot is an unattended update (very annoying), so whilst you haven't updated it; it has updated it's self in the background.
You can confirm this by running "ps | fax" and looking for the unattended process (or apt process), or by running "top" as it'll most likely be using the most resources.
