Hi Vincent,
You might have got this error probably for two reasons:
1- The rotation speed is too high. Try 5 or 6. (I got problem with speed 7 or higher)
2- The first image was not solved properly. The scope needs to be pointed around the NCP.
See the video by Jasem : Ekos Polar Alignment Assistant Tool ()
–––––– >>>> Here is a summary of what Jasem said : engage tracking, double-clic on a star near the NCP, slew to it and solve it (Capture and Solve), then start the polar alignment procedure
I checked (again) the video you suggested. It seemed that I forgot to "Capture and Solve" before starting the Polar Alignement tool. I tried several times with the procedure you mentioned, and every time the assistant worked perfectly (even at speed x9, and by pointing at any star, possible since a "recent" update of kstars/ekos).
Thank you very much for this reminder. This is typically the thing that happen when you do not write somewhere the exact procedure and try to do things based on your (defective) memory. It will not happen again!
Anyway, thanks for you time and detailed answer, I really appreciate!
FWIW, that video is several iterations old--though following those instructions probably still work, polar-alignment no longer requires the telescope to point near the pole.
