the kde.org D/L of OSX Kstars 3.6.0 crashed at startup for me as well. Never got to any display at al, and kstars would need to be force quit to continue. Interestingly, this build also caused my install of 3.5.9 to fail in the same manner. Pointed to some corruption of a common lib or data.
Just removed the preference file and application support fiules, downloaded the nightly version 1633, and it works fine.
I found something that may have been causing your issue. Several programs including the dbus-daemon had not been processed correctly due to the changes in my script so they were unfortunately still pointing to locations on my computer instead of the correct file in the app bundle. That could explain why it wasn't starting dbus properly for you. This evening I worked for several hours and I think I fixed it. I uploaded another dmg. Please check it out.
Hi Dale,
I think you were probably affected by the startup bug that took us several days over the past week to solve. We finally fixed it Friday, so the nightly build on the website probably included the change as well as the dmg I uploaded today. I'm glad it is working for you now.
