I'm unable to connect my DeepSkyDad FP1 to Kstars on my Mac, but I cannot get it to connect. It works fine on my Pi4 (Astroberry) but no joy at all on the mac, it just can't connect or get a ping back. Has anyone got any ideas?

This sounds very much like a USB-Serial driver issue, since this is the most common solution to the kind of problem you are reporting. I don't know anything about the Deep Sky Dad, but based on the communications you posted, it sounds like it is looking for a serial connection. If you connect to it via usb, then there probably is an integrated Usb Serial device. So you would need to find out what type of USB serial device they are using and install the right usb serial driver on your Mac. Most likely it is either FTDI or PL2303, but not knowing more about it, this is a guess. You can probably do some google searches to find out and locate the driver.
