Hi all,
Quick question. I have KStars running on an Ubuntu install and previously I was able to perform an update by running the following commands:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install indi-full kstars-bleeding
I tried this last night and I'm told that I have the latest version which is weird as the version I'm running is 3.6.3 but I can see the latest version available is 3.7.0.
Does anyone know what the issue could be? Have the update commands changed?

Hi all,
Apologies for the general nature of this questions but I saw a similar post for the AM-5 and thought I'd try the same thing for the SW AZ-EQ6.
Are there any owners of the AZ-EQ6 who could offer the settings they use for guiding? I generally run at 0.8-1 RMS and feel I can get more out of it.

It's set to 4-SmallScaleSolving. Is this correct?
I'm also downloading all of the remaining Index Files as I only had a few installed.

Hi Jasem,
I found out how to plate solve. The problem seems to be with the Internal Solver. When I switch to the Online Solver it sort of works. It plates solves and slews but then isn't able to align the image properly. It gets close but never completes.
When I'm using the Internal Solver, I get an error message that says there aren't enough stars, so I don't know what is going on. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had Slew to Target selected. As for the steps to go through, I’ll try it tonight. Will it also rotate the image correctly? I have a Falcon Rotator and would like to know if this will take care of that as well.
Cheers

Hi all,
I'm confused as to how I use Load and Slew in the Align module. I've tried unparking the mount and loading an image, but nothing happens. I've also tried slewing to the target and loading a previous fits image and it says there aren't enough stars in the image and the align fails.
Would appreciate some help on how to use this feature.

Yeah that’s the values i used. But after I stacked in PI with WBPP. The image looked awful. I’m not quite sure what’s happening. Like I said when I stacked without flats the image looked fine.

Hi all,
I need help in taking my flats. I used the flats calibration wizard to generate my flats frames. The image I got after WBPP was awful. It was full of artefacts that I couldn’t get rid of. When I stacked only the lights and master dark the image looked fine, without any of the artefacts.
So I was hoping someone could advise what ADU value I should use the flats wizard to get good flat frames. I have a SW 100ED Esprit, Optolong L-Ultimate filter, and asi2600mc.
Does anyone have the same or similar setup who can help me?
Oh and yes I take flat darks to calibrate with my flats.
Thanks in advance.

Firstly, apologies for the basic question. It's been 2 years since I last did AP and I'm slowly relearning everything. Last night I did some imaging with an AZEQ6 on my newly installed pier. I configured the meridian flip in Ekos and set it to flip when HA >5 degrees. I was about to go to bed when I started to doubt myself. I was worried the value may not be correct and the OTA would impact with the pier.
So, I was wondering if anyone in the community could point me in the right direction for the value that should be input for a meridian flip, or should I do some testing in the daytime to find the best value.
Thanks in advance.

Thank Hy. I managed to sort things out but was wondering if we leave tracking on during the PA routine or turn it off.

Hi all,
Well I’ve returned to AP after a 2yr break and the first night didn’t go according to plan (what a shocker). I had a couple of issues (one I think I’ve just figured out). The other issue I’m having is with polar alignment. I used to get really good PA when I last did it and was eager to try the new version. I went through the process and got to the point of adjusting and this is where it all went wrong. I chose the Plate Solve Method and made my adjustments while looking at the updated error. Now two things confused me:
1) there is a triangle and a circle on the screen and my assumption is that the circle should be adjusted along the triangle until it rests on the apex. Yet when I made my adjustments the error was reducing but the circle was nowhere near the triangle. If I tried to adjust while on the triangle the error got worse.
2) If I let my mount settle and take a couple of exposures the error got worse! Even though I did nothing. How can this be?
I like the new PA routine but need some help in how to use it.
