Dear all,
I recently purchased a used Nikon 1 Model J4 for imaging with a higher crop factor. When I connect the camera via USB to the raspberry running stellarmate, I can easily connect and the camera is recognized. However, once clicking on the button to take an image, kstars crashes. I run kstars 6.1 on a mac. Any idea?

Now, a different target. I did not change anything else but the target, so, rotator did not move at all. This time everything seems to be aligned. Now I am totally confused...

Dear all,
I am struggling with the correct rotator settings for my imaging. I use a Pegasus Falcon rotator to align my camera to the desired view. However, what the solver shows in KStars and the resulting image are approx. 90° out of sync. Can someone give me a hint what I am doing wrong here?
Kind Regards
Ralf.

That was the solution. I found several dust spots on the camera's glass. Got rid of them and the artefacts are gone! Thanks again!

Thank you Gene! I didn‘t even know that such tool for calculation exists. I will check out with my image again.
I will check the camera again for any dust.

Dear all,
I am using a Skywatcher 420 t2ED scope for my imaging. The chain from the scope to the camera is like this:
Skywatcher AP 72/420 Evostar
—> Skywatcher Reducer/Flattener 0,85x
—> TSVF208 = 8mm
—> TSM54a-M48i = 1.5mm
—> Pegasus Falcon Rotator = 18mm
—> M48Abstimm05/Ring = 0.5mm
—> M54a-M48a (Pegasus adapter) = 2mm
—> Filterdrawer TSFSLM48 = 18mm
—> M48i-M48i = 0mm
—> ASToptics Adapter M48 Male to M42 Female - (5MM) = 0mm
—> ASI 183 = 6.5mm
It is not exactly 55mm, but very close (54,5mm).
When I take flat frames, I end up with images as the attached one. Unfortunately, the circles are also pretty much present in the final images when I processed them with Pixinsight. I cleaned all devices (whereever I could reach them) properly. This didn't change anything. I pulled out the single components one after the other (my first idea was the filterdrawer, but that didn't change anything) and the problem is still present.
Does anyone have an idea what is causing this?
Kind Regards
Ralf.

Dear all,
I am experiencing problems using KStars 3.6.0 with my Mac. First problem I found was that I cannot use the find functionality. While I can get around this one, the second issue is much more problematic. The alignment-module does not work with my configuration. It always throws the error that "there are not enough stars visible". On my older laptop I had still v3.5.x installed and there it does work without any problems.
Can someone give me a hint where I can find the older version?
Kind Regards
Ralf.

Dear all,
I tried some stuff using the de-rotation capability of the info-driver but without any success. The driver states that the value entering is number of steps per ms, however it seems that it is more degrees per second. When I enter a fraction (i. E. 0.5) it does not move at all but 1 is already too fast.
Any hint?
Ralf.

Dear all,
I am using Stellarmate for my astrophotography. Recently I have contacted Pegasus regarding the Falcon rotator for 2 topis (besides availability in Stellarmate/INDI):
1. Does it allow me to determine and change the angle of the attached camera for the desired FOV
2. Does it the allow me to enable field derotation using an ALT-AZ mount
The answer from Pegasus was as follows:
The rotator is supported in indi / Kstars and works flawlessly. However the derotation feature is not implemented in ind yet.
We do not have an update when it is going to be supported as the driver is 3rd party developed.
Can anyone say wether this will be implemented in near future?
Ralf.

I had similar problem with my D5200. It had to be set to BULB mode, then it worked fine.

Dears,
I must apologize... When I looked today in the late afternoon, the default guiding was set to the ZWO camera. Now, once I started my session and connected all my stuff, the "via" setting was on the Celestron. I switched it to camera and within seconds eKOS reported that it started guiding.
Thanks for the hint. Seems to work now...
Ralf.
