This library is installed by the deb: it should be into /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/ and this directory should be into your LD_LIBRARY_PATH or searched by /etc/ld.so.conf
Note that the INDI driver by i.Nova is designed to run on most generic situations, but these not include all ones.
If you install the driver with dpkg, there should be no problem if after the installation you fix the dependencies using apt-get -f, also consider that it is quite old that version, the new version is online and it is built using INDI 1.4: www.inova-ccd.fr/download/E.%20Drivers/Linux/

Tonight, I installed a new SD card with Raspbian instead Ubuntu Mate and the issue with iNova driver is strictly the same (2017-08-06T20:10:47: Driver indi_inova_ccd: indi_inova_ccd: error while loading shared libraries: libinovasdk.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
There is the link only to the library, libinovasdk.so.1 is missing in new packets. I can give my version of the library, and ask them to include into the deb.
